Iguana iguana
The present study is an extension of earlier works on the hematology of the common lizard, Iguana iguana, with the primary object being to establish the role of the breeding cycle in the maintenance of the blood glucose levels. The average of glycemia for females and males was determinated (266.88 mg/100 ml and 222.16 mg/100 ml respectively). No significant sexual variation was found. It was also established the existence of statistical significant changes in the monthly blood glucose levels in both sexes; possibly changes are associated with the breeding season of the specie.
