A zoogeographic study of the Peninsula de Guanahacabibes, Pinar del Rió Province, Cuba, is presented. Collections of 447 specimens of amphibians and reptiles plus several specimens of birds (106 species: 4 amphibians, 21 reptiles and 81 birds) are recorded from the Peninsula. One frog is reported as questionably present, and two frogs and one lizard occur marginally. Anolis quadriocellifer Barbour and Ramsden and A. homolechis Cope are regarded as distinct species, and A. sagrei Duméril and Bibron and A. bremeri Barbour as subspecies of A. sagrei. A discussion of the possible origin of the Guanahacabibes fauna, in comparison with both the lowland and upland herpetofaunas of Pinar del Río Province, is given. The Guanahacabibes herpetofauna is shown to be composed entirely of Pinar del Río species which are either exclusively lowland or occur in both the uplands and lowlands. Species of amphibians and reptiles as yet unreported from the Peninsula are noted and most are confidently expected to be encountered there. A similar situation occurs with birds.
